Mayor Signs Proclamation Recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month
LOUISA, KY MARCH 31st, 2025 – Mayor Harold E. Slone has officially proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Louisa, KY by reinforcing the community’s commitment to protecting children and raising awareness about the importance of prevention efforts.
Joined by representatives from child advocacy organizations, social services, and local leaders, Mayor Slone emphasized the critical role the entire community plays in ensuring the safety and well-being of children. The proclamation signing event took place at Louisa City Hall where attendees wore blue to show solidarity with the cause.
“Protecting our children is a responsibility we all share,” said Mayor Slone. “By working together, we can create safe, nurturing environments where children can thrive and reach their full potential.”
Child Abuse Prevention Month is a nationwide campaign dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging action to prevent child abuse and neglect. Throughout April, advocacy groups will host various events, including educational workshops, awareness walks, and community outreach programs to promote child safety and support families.
Pathways , a leading child advocacy group in Louisa, praised the Mayor’s efforts and highlighted ways the public can get involved. “Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and loving environment,” said Madison Arrington, TAYLRD Regional Coordinator. “We encourage everyone to learn the signs of abuse, support families in need, and advocate for policies that protect our children.”
Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming events and to wear blue on April 4th. as part of the national “Wear Blue Day” initiative to show their commitment to preventing child abuse. Chalk the Walk is on Monday April 14th from 4-5pm at Main Street Park.
