PLAYER’S COMMENTS
“… Before my senior season, the pressure of playing college softball felt overwhelming. To be honest, I let the horror stories and experiences of other people scare me away from the idea. Then, during our trip to Myrtle Beach—one of the most fun weeks of my high school career—I had a realization while standing on the mound during a game. I knew I wasn’t ready for softball to end. I couldn’t imagine just walking away from a sport that had given me so much. I realized that I didn’t want my decision to be based on someone else’s experience. I wanted the chance to experience college softball for myself.”
“… Although I was late to the recruiting process, I began taking visits and exploring my options. From the moment I stepped on campus at KCU, it felt different. The coaches were genuine, the players were welcoming, and the atmosphere felt like a place where I could grow both as an athlete and as a person.”
“… After spending time with the program, I could picture myself there, continuing to compete in the sport I love while pursuing my education. Choosing KCU wasn’t just choosing a college; it was choosing a place where I felt supported, valued, and excited for what comes next.”
“… Looking back, I’m grateful I didn’t let fear make the decision for me. Softball has given me too much to walk away without seeing where this journey could lead, and I’m excited to continue that journey at KCU.”
“… Playing for LCHS is something truly special, and I hope every girl who comes after me realizes how lucky she is to represent her school alongside her best friends. Playing for three different coaches taught me passion, perseverance, hard work, and accountability. The lessons and experiences I gained at LCHS have prepared me for the next level both on and off the field.”
“… I want to thank my dad for always pushing me to be my best, holding me accountable, and teaching me that success comes from hard work, discipline, and perseverance. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support, guidance, and belief in me. To my mom, thank you for your endless love and support through the highs and lows, you were always there with encouragement, love, and reassurance when I needed it most. To my sister, grandparents, and the rest of my family, thank you for the encouragement and support you’ve given me throughout this journey.”
“… I also want to thank Kenny Horn and the entire LCHS coaching staff for believing in me, challenging me to be better every day, and helping shape me into the player and person I am today. None of this would have been possible without all you all! Lastly, thank you to the Lawrence County community. There truly is nothing else like it. The support, pride, and love you’ve shown our team and me over the years has never gone unnoticed. I am incredibly grateful to have represented a community that cares so deeply about its athletes and each other.”
