A third suspect caught in foot chase by deputies…
US Marshall’s Cuffed Task Force Unit made two arrests earlier today following an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Drug Enforcement Unit.
Carl Smith, 52, of the Wayne area is charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Pseudoephedrine Altered.
Michael “Shane” Maynard, 46, was also arrested following an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Drug Enforcement Unit along with help from the Wayne City Police Department.
Maynard is charged with Pseudoephedrine in an Altered State (Meth). He, too, was arrested by the US Marshall’s Cuffed Task Force Unit.
Both men were charged with felonies and taken to the Western Regional Jail.
Suspected drug dealer flees from deputies, is nabbed…
Over the weekend Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson, along with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Drug Enforcement Unit received a tip on drug activity involving a known drug suspect. A short while later the suspect’s vehicle was spotted during an attempt to make a stop on the vehicle, led to a pursuit that spread throughout the Fort Gay area of Wayne County.
During the pursuit, evidence for drug trafficking was allegedly thrown from the vehicle. When the vehicle was stopped, the driver, Jared Webb, fled on foot and was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Webb is charged with Felony Fleeing in a vehicle, fleeing on foot, obstructing, battery on a police officer and other traffic offenses.
Webb, who is on probation, was also taken to the Western Regional Jail.
