Lawrence Co. Senior Luke Patton
“….West Point is a phenomenal institution with some of the best academics in the country. It also felt like home from the second I stepped onto post and getting to see the winning tradition and the brotherhood that’s been created at West Point by Coach Foster made me want to be apart of the Army Baseball Family.”
“… I think I fit in great, the guys on the team made my transition really easy for me and took me in like one of their own. I’m very exited to get going I know we have a lot of really good players on this team and we’re ready to go compete and win a lot of ball games and win ourselves a couple championships while we’re at it.”
“ …Yeah I had a lot of interest from many different schools like Marshall, Niagara, Morehead, USC Upstate, Columbia, Bowling Green, Ohio U, etc but West Point just felt like home to me and it was where I was meant to be.”
Lawrence Co. Senior Blue Fletcher
“… When I went down there I loved the campus, loved that it was a smaller school, and I loved the coaching staff, academics was also a big part of it. Academics is the most important part. I will be able to get my degree from a great school.”
“… Honestly not many other schools I considered, I went on one other visit. Transy was just the right spot for me.”
Lawrence Co. Senior Bryce Blevins
“… I’m really excited to be going to Marshall, I always dreamed of playing College Baseball especially at the Division one level. Not that many kids from our area get the opportunity and I’m truly blessed be be surrounded by teammates that work hard, great parents and family that support me.”
“… Marshall going into the Sun Belt Conference is really excited for me and the University. Every school is closer to home so that’s a plus. All of the schools will be south of Huntington so that means good weather all the time. Coastal Carolina won the College World Series in Omaha a few years back, Appalachian St. is good and Troy as well. I have goals for myself and the team as well is to get to that level.”
“… It has flew by that’s for sure. I remember being in the seventh grade and losing to Paintsville in the Region tournament at Pike Central and saying good bye to those seniors and kinda joking well I have 5 more years and I’m sure the young kids on our team this year will be thinking the same thing. I have made so many memories here and wouldn’t trade it for anything. We have the best coaching staff in the state right here where we live. Have the best teammates that have the same goals this season as me.”
Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis Feltner
COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Bryce Blevins has certainly solidified himself as one of the all-time greats to ever come through here. I’m so proud of the outstanding young man he’s grown into. I have literally watched Bryce grow up from the time he was just a couple of years old when his uncle Steven played for us and he ran around like a wild man at a lot of our games. We are all so excited for his great opportunity to continue his career at Marshall University. I’ve coached very few kids that has taken a professional type approach at such a young age and developed his craft- and Bryce is certainly one of them. The career numbers that Bryce has already attained are off the charts and unfortunately that includes missing an entire season right in the prime of his career in 2020.”
“… Blue Fletcher is a centerpiece guy in our program. Blue is an old school type of player that has the ability to play so many different positions and excel at any one of them. He’s the first catcher that I have ever coached that we’ve allowed to pitch as well. Blue’s not afraid to take the ball in any game regardless of the opponent or the stakes. I would feel comfortable putting him out there any spot on the field and feel like he’s going to go make plays and help our team. Last year he was the table setter for what turned out to be a very potent offense (hitting in the leadoff spot) and scoring 47 runs. We are very excited for Blue’s opportunity to continue his career at Transylvania University.”
“… Luke Patton is brand new to our program but has immediately had an unbelievable impact on the field, in the weightroom, and in the locker room. He has fit in immediately which is a great testimony to the character that Luke has. We believe Luke will have a tremendous impact on the kind of successes we look forward to having this spring- on the mound, in the field and in the batter’s box. For Luke to have the opportunity to move on next year to West Point at such a prestigious institution and continue his baseball and academic career is an amazing accomplishment in itself.”
“ All 3 of these young men come from great families and I have no doubt will find great successes beyond their careers here at LCHS. I am very proud of all of them and excited for their opportunities.”
