Fort Gay, W. Va. — In only 11 minutes of action Tolsia ( 1-1 ) defeated Paden City 25-0 on Friday night at Wilts Salmons Field.

Bray Mollette, Robert Evans, Luke Williamson

With 0:52 seconds left in the first quarter Tolsia scored to make it 25-0 and on the play a Paden City player was injured and had to be taken to the hospital via ambulance and after a couple discussions the game was called.

On the Rebels first possession Bray Mollette went in from 15 yards out and Braxton Jones added the PAT with 9:38 left in the 1st quarter.

After a Chase Thompson fumble recovery Robert Evans weaved his way into the end zone for a 29 yard touchdown to make it 13-0 with 8:08 left in the 1st quarter.

#74 Mason Brewer and #53 Hunter Ramey drag the Paden City running back to the ground as several Rebel defenders close in.

On fourth down for the Wildcats Evans intercepted a long pass attempt at the Rebel 13 yard line and on the next play Luke Williamson followed a convoy of Rebel blocking all the way to the end zone for an 87 yard touchdown and was 19-0 with 3:48 left in the 1st quarter.

With 0:52 seconds left in the quarter Mollette plowed his way in from 8 yard touchdown and during the play a Wildcat defender was injured and the game was called.

Evans completed two passes on the night with a 25 yard connection with Dakota Blackburn and 7 yarder to Fred Ekers.

Mollette had 81 yards on 5 carries and also had a QB sack on defense.

The Rebels will hit the road for the first time this season with a long trip to Mount View ( 0-2 ) on Friday night.

Paden City ( 1-1 ) will host Greenbriar West ( 1-1 ) on Friday night.

Tolsia Head Coach David Thompson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… This is my 33rd year of coaching and I have never seen anything like it. Three or four years ago we went to Mingo Central with 13 ball players and finished the game with 10 and lost 60-0 but we finished the game. It’s not in our DNA to quit. My hats off to them and I feel for them but our kids came to play and we preached physicality all week long.”

“… We had the best week of practice that we have had so far. Last week before the Wayne game we had some kids sick throughout the week and then in the game we dealt with some stuff as well. No excuses though. Would love to have Wayne later on in the year, you know playing them you better strap it up.”

“… I thought our kids were ready to play, we changed a few things up this week and put in some wrinkles. Would have love to keep playing and get some more kids into some live game action but it just wasn’t meant to be. We didn’t get a second scrimmage before Wayne and then this game got cut short so we are still a work in progress.”
