Fort Gay, W. Va. — After narrowly missing the State tournament last season Head Coach Ric Morrone will have his Tolsia Lady Rebels in position for another run this season.
The Tolsia Lady Rebels Basketball team came up one step short of their goal of returning to the Class A State Tournament last season. The Lady Rebels gallantly fell at #2 Williamstown in the Region 4 Finals to finish 14-12. The goal for a new group of Lady Rebels is to advance to the Class A State Tournament in Charleston in March 2018.
The Lady Rebels have a nice mix of returning players plus a deep group of incoming freshmen. The Lady Rebels will face a daunting schedule as usual in trying to prepare for the post season. This year’s slate includes AAA George Washington, South Point Oh, Riverside and Lawrence County, KY. Also Class AA powers Chesapeake, Oh, Wayne, Logan, Mingo Central and Class A rivals Van, Sherman, and Charleston Catholic. The Lady Rebels will also be participating for the 2nd year in the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament for Class A Public Schools in WV with the finals being held at the South Charleston Rec. Center on February 3rd.
The 2017-18 campaign will also see the return of a regional favorite, the BJM/Keyplayer Shootout on December 8th and 9th, at Tolsia High school. This showcases top programs in a tournament format, this year featuring Wayne, George Washington and Lawrence Co. Ky along with the host Lady Rebels. There will also be a return of the JV division tournament for these teams as well.
