Paintsville, Ky. —  An injury derailed Lawrence Co. in a 2-1 loss in the semifinals of the 15th Region boys soccer tournament last week against Johnson Central.

15th region player of the year Ayden Mynhier went down with 16 minutes left in the contest with a concussion and never returned.

Cooper Vinson had the lone goal for the Bulldogs with the assist going to Mynhier.

Bulldog goalkeeper Cole Robinette had 8 saves and allowed 2 goals.

Bulldog Head Coach Scott Johnson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It was a disappointing night.  We started off poorly and chased the ball around a lot in the first half.  We weren’t able to possess like we wanted to.  I don’t know if it was nerves or what.  Second half was better and things were even with 16 min to go.  JC took a cheap shot on Aiden and that resulted in a concussion that he is still dealing with. When you take the region player of the year out of the game, it has an impact.  After that, we weren’t able to create a meaningful opportunities to score and JC benefitted from a lag defensively.”
