FRANKFORT, KY (July 1, 2022) — The following is a joint statement from Senate mountain legislators regarding Thursday night’s officer-involved shooting in Allen in Floyd County:
“As mountain senators and fervent supporters of our law enforcement and first responders, our hearts ache for the families and loved ones of Kentucky State Police Post 9, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the Prestonsburg Police Department and the Allen Fire Department. The heroic law enforcement officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty last night represented the best of eastern Kentucky. These brave men will never be forgotten, and their memories will forever be ingrained in the communities they served. We want to extend our sincerest condolences to the families who lost a loved one in this senseless act. We ask the entire Commonwealth to join us as we pray for the recovery of those who were grievously wounded and for their families.”
