Daily Road Closures Scheduled on KY 825 in Johnson County for Embankment Repairs

Road closed from 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., beginning Monday, June 16

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (June 13, 2025) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists that contractor Nattco Inc. will begin work to repair an embankment failure on KY 825 at mile point 0.290 on Monday, June 16. The repair site is located on the section of KY 825 between KY 40 and US 460.

Due to the narrow width of the roadway at the work location, daily full closures will be necessary to complete the steel drilling portion of the repair. The road will be closed to all traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., beginning Monday, June 16, and continuing for approximately one week. The roadway will reopen each evening after work concludes and remain open during non-work hours.

Once the steel drilling is complete, the contractor will continue with construction activities using single-lane closures with flaggers on site to alternate traffic safely through the work zone.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, seek alternate routes during daytime work hours, and drive with caution when traveling through the area after hours.

KYTC District 12 appreciates the public’s patience as we work to restore and stabilize this section of roadway.

Embankment Repair Work Scheduled on KY 1750 in Johnson County Beginning June 16

Work Starts Midday, Monday June 16

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (June 13, 2025) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 (KYTC D12) advises motorists that contractor Blue Rock Inc. will begin embankment repair work on KY 1750 at mile point 3.7, near the intersection with US 23, starting midday Monday, June 16.

Crews will be drilling to stabilize embankments over the course of two to three days, with daily work hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Due to the large size of the drilling equipment and the narrow width of the roadway, significant traffic delays are expected while work is underway. Motorists should make accommodations and seek alternate routes, especially during peak travel hours. Emergency Vehicles will be accommodated.

Please watch for warning signage and crew members working in the area. Safety for both workers and drivers remains our top priority.

KYTC District 12 thanks the public for their continued patience and cooperation as we work to improve and stabilize the road infrastructure in Johnson County.

Follow KYTC District 12 on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) for traffic alerts and project updates.
