PAINTSVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING AND SERIOUSLY WOUNDED ANOTHER MAN IN DOWNTOWN PAINTSVILLE WEDNESDAY
MOTIVE REMAINS UNKNOWN FOR THE SHOOTING; VICTIM HAD TO BE LATER FLOWN OUT TO A TRAUMA MEDICAL HOSPITAL

SHOOTING SUSPECT: CARL JONES
A Paintsville man was arrested after he shot and seriously wounded another man in downtown Paintsville early Wednesday evening.
According to a press news release from the Paintsville Police Dept. at approximately 6:49 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, Paintsville police officer Zach Stapleton and Patsville Police Captain Jonathan Holbrook responded to a report of a shooting that happened at 451 Main Street in Paintsville.
Upon the officers arrival at the scene, a male subject was found outside of the residence holding his stomach and he said to the officers he had been shot.The male victim, whose identity has not been released, told the officers that another man had shot him.
The suspect was soon identified as Carl Jones, 43, of Paintsville. Officer Stapleton and Captain Holbrook later located Carl Jones and placed him under arrest.
Carl Jones was subsequently charged with:
• ASSAULT, 1ST DEGREE,
• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA,
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 2ND DEGREE – DRUG UNSPECIFIED.
Carl Jones was taken and lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
The victim was transported to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center by Paintsville EMS, and then was later flown out to a regional area Trauma Center with unknown injuries.
The motive as to what led Carl Jones to bshooting his victim remains unknown as of now.
