March 26, 2020 – The Louisa Police Department would like to congratulate one of our officers, Patrolman Teddy B. Newsome, who graduated today from the Department of Criminal Justice Training-Basic Recruit Academy and obtained his Police Officers’ Professional Standards certification from the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.
Patrolman Newsome was part of Class 510 and completed 20 weeks of intense training. During the academy students demonstrated learning in many areas including Patrol Procedures, Physical Training, Pursuit Driving, Defensive Tactics, Criminal Law, DUI Enforcement, Firearms, Criminal Investigations and Tactical/Crisis Response.
Patrolman Newsome served in his class leadership as a squad leader, which mimics the role of a squad or shift sergeant. Patrolman Newsome also earned the Physical Fitness Excellence Award.
Ptl. Newsome is a graduate of Betsy Layne High School and University of Pikeville.
