LOUISA – Louisville-based WHAS TV has awarded Lawrence County Schools a grant of $20,000 as part of its annual “Crusade for Children” program.
The Crusade for Children is a 30-hour local telethon by WHAS that focuses on raising donations for agencies and organizations that work with children and families with special needs. WHAS raised and awarded $5.5 million in grants for 2017-18.
“…The WHAS grant is not just about purchasing more materials or equipping our students with the best curriculum; it is about people from all over Kentucky and surrounding areas supporting kids with physical and learning challenges. It is refreshing to know that we are not in this alone and people who don’t even know us or have never been to eastern Kentucky are contributing to the education of Lawrence County kids and helping us prepare them for the brightest future possible,” said Lawrence County Schools’ Director of Special Education Rhonda Colvin.
The grant to Lawrence County Schools was one of 224 awarded as a result of the successful efforts of America’s top local telethon.
