NASHVILLE, TENN. – January 17th, 2020 — “Who I Am,” the latest single by veteran Nashville singer/songwriter Adam Chaffins, was released today via EMPIRE distribution – listen/share HERE. The song is the last single to be released before his debut full-length album, Some Things Won’t Last, is released February 21, 2020 (pre-save).
“Who I Am” borrows from Chaffins’ East Kentucky roots with its raw delivery and lonesome tone. Recorded at Southern Ground Nashville, the eerie-torch song features haunting background vocals by Aubrie Sellers which are combined with the dream-like tones of Ethan Ballinger’s guitar and Jason Goforth’s pedal steel, adding to the sonic beauty of the track while matching its lyrical depth. Co-written with acclaimed Nashville songwriter Jerry Salley (cuts by Chris Stapleton and Reba McEntire), “Who I Am” is Chaffins’ only co-written original track on his upcoming debut full-length album, Some Things Won’t Last.
“Who I Am” follows the successful release of “Her”, Chaffins’ latest single and video. “Her” captures the brooding and melancholy journey of a past love and loss. His work has earned him recognition from NPR, which said Chaffins comes “from an Eastern Kentucky country-music hotbed” but “brings enough R&B and indie rock to his Americana blend to make an original statement.”
Chaffins’ debut full-length album, Some Things Won’t Last, is the next leg of a journey and the birth of a dream. Scheduled for release February 21, via EMPIRE distribution, the album was born from the constant progression of Chaffins’ music, honoring past experiences while always moving forward, creating a new palate of sound that might not have existed before and inviting diverse audiences that might not have come together before.
