Myrtle Beach, S.C. — Lawrence Co. Baseball and Softball teams both pick up wins on Tuesday afternoon in the Cal Ripken experience. Lady Dawgs come from behind and the Dawgs start fast and don’t look back.
GIRLS SOFTBALL
Lawrence Co. 11 Fern Creek 9 ( Softball )
Lawrence Co. ( 3-4 ) scored four times in the top of the seventh to overcome a 9-7 deficit and get win number one on their week long spring break trip over a good Fern Creek ( 7-11 ) team out of Louisville.
Abby Fletcher was a single away from hitting for the cycle as she collected a double, triple, and also hit a inside the park home run and also scored three times. From all accounts two of the hits would have been over the fence at any normal softball field. The field they were playing on today the fence that was 304.
Mackenzie Methax got the win in relief of Haleigh Peck and Ciana Bowen pitched the seventh to get the save.
Peck had three hits and Bowen had four including the eventual game winning hit. Halli Caudill, Natalie Rice, Amber Triplett and Methax all had one hit each. Brittany Shapaka and Keyarah Bowen both scored one run each.
The Lady Dawgs will return to action on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 to face Moniteau High School from West Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Really proud of the kids today. They played their hearts out. We were down 2 going into the top of the 7th and put 4 on the board and closed it out in the bottom half. We showed a toughness today that we haven’t seen all year. It was great to have all the bleachers full of LC fans. The support is important.”
BOYS BASEBALL
Lawrence Co. 8 Greenwood 2 ( Baseball )
CJ Fairchild went six innings and Brother Jarrett Fairchild closed it out on the mound to secure win number one for the Dawgs in the Cal Ripken experience in Myrtle Beach.
Lawrence Co. improved to 6-3 on the season and Greenwood out of Bowling Green fell to 5-7.
CJ Fairchild opened the scoring with a blast off the wall that scored Peyton Cyrus and Brad Parks in the first inning to give the Bulldogs the early lead. In the fourth the Dawgs busted open a 3-2 game with a five run inning, Parks and Jackson Feltner had two run singles, Tyler Maynard also had a run scoring single to start the big inning. Kade Sword and Austin Roe walked and scored in the fourth as well.
Junior Varsity won 8-4 over Madisonville North Hopkins.
The Dawgs will be off on Wednesday before taking on Bethlehem ( 9-1 ) Thursday at Noon.
