SEE YOU IN 2036: CHILD SEX VIOLATOR WHO WOULD NOT COMPLY ON HIS ADDRESS LOCATION: MICHAEL ANTHONY MARCUM, 52, WAS SENTENCED TO TWENTY (20) YEARS IN PRISON, FOR REPEATED FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH HIS ADDRESS FOR THE KENTUCKY SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY.

A Johnson County, Kentucky man has been sentenced to ten (10) years in prison after pleading guilty to failing to register as required with the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry earlier this month.

According to court documents, on Friday, January 9, Johnson County Circuit Judge John Kevin Holbrook sentenced Michael Anthony Marcum, 52, who has addresses listed in court documents in Martin County and Floyd County, pursuant to a plea deal reached with the office of Johnson Commonwealth’s Attorney David “Matt” Runyon.

Michael Marcum pleaded guilty to a charge of:

* FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION (SECOND OR > OFFENSE).

According to an arrest citation in the case, in August 2024, Johnson County Sheriff Office deputy Nathan Collins went to Perry Vanhoose Apartments to talk with Michael Marcum, who was a person of interest in a burglary case.

While investigating, the citation said, the deputy learned that Marcum was non-compliant with the sex offender registry, with his last address being listed as Fayette County, KY.
According to the circuit court documents, Michael Marcum was convicted in 2008 in Pike County, KY., of third-degree rape against a 16 year old victim, and he was sentenced to five years, probated for five years, with a requirement that he be on the state police sex registry for twenty (20) years.

Michael Marcum is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, awaiting his transfer to a state prison.
