Fallsburg Middle School Teachers Introduce Exciting New CTE Program to Louisa Rotary
By Susie Chambers
On July 24th, Mr. Craig McDavid, science teacher at Fallsburg Elementary School, spoke to the Louisa Rotary Club about an exciting new addition to their curriculum: Dragonworks, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. McDavid, along with fellow educators, shared their enthusiasm for the program, which is designed to provide middle school students with hands-on learning experiences and technical skills geared toward specific career paths.

CTE—short for Career and Technical Education—aims to expose students to real-world skills at an earlier age, helping them discover potential career interests through interactive and practical lessons.
Joining McDavid was Mrs. Crystal Salyer, who is reintroducing agriculture into the classroom. Students in her two-year program will learn to grow crops and develop a variety of agriculture-based skills, including participation in events such as the Kentucky State Fair. Mrs. Danielle Davis, another dedicated educator, will lead the Family and Consumer Sciences program, equipping students with essential life skills and knowledge related to home and family life.
The teachers noted that since implementing the CTE initiative, they’ve already seen positive changes in student behavior and attendance. Their passion for the program and their students’ success was evident throughout the presentation.
Principal Sara Kise Trimble also attended the meeting and expressed her pride in the teachers, emphasizing the value of CTE as a powerful learning experience that will benefit Fallsburg students for years to come.
