Fort Gay Ousts Wayne To Set Up Matchup With Rival Crum

Buffalo, W.V. — #5 Seed Fort Gay upset #4 Seed Wayne 42-34 in the first round of the Wayne Co. Boys Basketball Tournament at Buffalo Middle School on Tuesday evening. 

Ft. Gay Vikings — Coach Frank Delawder, #22 Brayden Evans, #24 Brady Davis, #10 Karter Johnson, #30 Isaiah Maynard, Coach Chris Johnson in the back, #11 TJ Adkins, #33 Dawson Richardson, #5 Jameson Evans, Coach Jennifer Jude

Zay Maynard led the victors with 11 points, Karter Johnson added 9 points and 7 rebounds, Tristian Smith tallied 9 points and 6 rebounds, Jameson Evans netted 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, Braxton Salmons had 5 points and 7 rebounds, Brayden Evans 3 rebounds. 

In the other first round game #6 Vinson beat #3 Buffalo 42-36. 

Fort Gay will advance to play #1 seed Crum at 6:45 on Thursday in one semifinal and Vinson will play #2 seed Ceredo-Kenova at 5:30. 

Third place game will take place at Noon and the championship game is slated for 1:45 on Saturday afternoon.
