‘Clue In To School Breakfast’: Celebrate National School Breakfast Week 2025(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE’s) Division of School and Community Nutrition is excited to announce the celebration of National School Breakfast Week (NSBW), March 3-7, 2025. This year’s theme, “Clue In to School Breakfast,” encourages students, parents and educators to uncover the clues that lead to a nutritious breakfast each day. In 1975, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) established the School Breakfast Program as a permanent initiative to ensure students nationwide have access to a nutritious breakfast. Fast forward to 2025, and students across Kentucky start their day with a healthy breakfast at school. Research consistently shows the positive impact of breakfast on students’ well-being. Lawrence Co. Supt. Katie Webb did not reply to questions concerning whether or not the school system will be participating this week. During the 2023-2024 school year, Kentucky sponsors of the School Breakfast Program served more than 49 million breakfasts to more than 678,000 students. The Food Research and Action Center reports that Kentucky has seen a rise in student breakfast participation, largely due to the Community Eligibility Program, which provides free breakfast and lunch to students. This week, join KDE in celebrating the significance of the School Breakfast Program in Kentucky. We honor the participating schools, the dedicated teachers and administrators and the child nutrition professionals who make it all possible. We also thank those who play a vital role in administering the School Breakfast Program and the countless benefits it offers to our students every school day.
