POWERFUL PIRATES GO PASS HAPPY AGAINST DAWGS ON SENIOR NIGHT
LOUISA, KY — In a Class 3A District 6 title matchup it was the Belfry (7-1) passing game that was on full display in a 56-28 victory over Lawrence Co. (5-4) Friday night at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial stadium.
Belfry QB Avery Browning went 3-3 for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Pirates doubled up the Bulldogs.
Bulldog QB Noah West rushed for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns but it wasn’t near enough. West scored from 21 yards out in the first quarter, 24 yards out right before halftime and from 25 yards out in the fourth quarter. Ashton Blankenship scored on a 1 yard touchdown plunge in the third quarter and Isiah Rose rushed for 1 two point conversion on the night.
For the Bulldogs who had 276 yards all on the ground, Blankenship finished with 37 yards, Baden Gillispie 35 yards, Rose 21 yards, Danny Hall 10 yards and Andrew Tackett 5 yards.
Lawrence Co. will closeout regular season play next Friday night at Floyd Central ( 5-3 ) as the Dawgs try to secure a Home playoff game in the first round of the playoffs.
