LOUISA, KY. — This past week was National Fire Prevention Week, which is held every year the second week of October.
The Louisa Fire Department and Chief Eddie Preston kicked things off starting Tuesday by hosting Sparky with the kids and taking them for rides on fire trucks at the stations.
…Chief Eddie Preston commented on the importance of Fire Prevention Week, “This is my favorite week, to educate children on the importance of how to prevent fires and to show them that first responders are there to help immediately there’s no reason to be afraid.”
They also visited the local schools in Louisa to bring awareness to the children of the community about the importance of fire safety.
On Saturday was the last event at Louisa Community Center, where they had fire truck rides, inflatables and raffles for various gifts including a boys and girls bike.
