Fiber technology to expand throughout Lycom service area
STAFFORDSVILLE, Ky. — Foothills Communications has reached an agreement with Lycom Communications of Louisa, Kentucky, to begin providing video, internet and telephone services to customers in Louisa and Lawrence County.
After more than a year of negotiations, Foothills Communications has acquired Lycom’s assets and customers in Lawrence County and Louisa, Kentucky, as well as Prichard, West Virginia, as of Jan. 1, 2020.
Foothills Communications is engineering a state-of-the-art fiber optic network in Louisa and will continue expanding the network throughout the entire Lycom service area. Foothills Communications will continue to utilize the Lycom name and network until it reaches businesses and residents in the Louisa, Kentucky, and Prichard, West Virginia, areas with its fiber-to-the-premise network.
Customers currently with Lycom Communications will continue to be serviced by the staff at Lycom’s office at 305 E. Pike St., Louisa, KY 41230. This includes bill payments, requests for service or support, and all other needs.
Foothills Communications will notify customers in the Lycom network and help them transfer services when fiber is available at their home or business.
Fiber optic technology, like the network being built by Foothills, is the most advanced broadband technology available. Foothills Communications offers plans with speeds up to a gigabit per second.
