Ashland area residents collect free saplings during Kentucky Power’s Annual Tree Day celebration in 2015. The 2017 event is scheduled for Saturday, April 22.
WHAT: Kentucky Power to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day by giving away 5,000 free low-growth tree saplings during its annual Tree Day event.
WHEN: Saturday, April 22, 2017, 9 a.m. to noon, or until supplies run out.
WHERE: Citizens Bank, employee parking lot, 855 Central Avenue, Ashland

WHO: Kentucky Power representatives and volunteers.
WHY: The event allows Kentucky Power to show its support of Earth Day and Arbor Day, as well as provide education to customers about the best locations and varieties to plant trees to lessen the likelihood of them growing into power lines as they mature. Available varieties include Eastern Redbud, Grey Dogwood and Roughleaf Dogwood.
