Circuit Court for Friday, April 14th
Jack Smith pleads guilty, and families finally get justice after the brutal murders in Martin County of Tina Goble, 42, her granddaughter Trinity Maynard, 8 and Caine Johnson, 47 on August of 2014.
Smith received a Life Sentence on an Alfred Plea, admitting no guilt however will not have the possibility of parole after beating, stabbing and then burning the home with all of the victims in it. (SEE LAZER STORY) Smith’s girlfriend, Amanda Bowen is accused of being complicit in the crimes and will face justice in Johnson Circuit where the case was moved from Martin County. Jury selection in the case is scheduled to begin today.

Timothy Scott, 44 entered a guilty plea to DISTRIBUTION OF MATTER PORTRAYING SEXUAL PERFORMANCE BY MINOR, 1st degree and POSSESSING MATTER PORTRAYING SEX PERFORMANCE BY A MINOR. Scott will be final sentenced on 5-12-17
Anthony Bart, 20 was present for sentencing charges of COMPLICITY/ROBBERY, 1st degree, amended to THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING and received 5 years of Supervised Diversion with 90 days of In Home Incarceration, THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING/DISP FIREARM receiving 3 years concurrent, and WANTON ENDANGERMENT, 1st degree receiving 3 years concurrent.
Brandon Birt, 30 was present on a motion for Shock Probation on a previous conviction. Motion was denied.
Christopher Borders, 45 was present for sentencing on WANTON ENDANGERMENT, 1st Degree receiving 3 years of Supervised probation and 90 days of jail time, and TERRORISTIC THREATENING, 3rd degree receiving time served. The defendant was taken into custody for his 90 days, and given four days of jail credit.
Matthew Caudill, 35 was on the docket for charges of COMPLICITY 1ST DEGREE POSSESSION OF CS/COCAINE, 1st OFFENSE, COMPLICITY TO USE OR POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, 1st OFFENSE, BAILJUMPING, 1st DEGREE, OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL/DRUGS, BUY/POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA , AND OPERATING ON SUSPENDED OR REVOKED LICENSE Defendant was not present, but is enrolled in a rehab program.
Grover Copley, 41 was present for a bond hearing on charges of POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1st DEGREE, OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL/DRUGS, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND RECKLESS DRIVING. Case was reset for 4-25-17.
Michael Cordle, 21, was present on charges of POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1st DEGREE, AND TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA, LESS THAN 8 oz. Case was reset for 5-12-17.
Vanessa Dillon, 29 was present on a motion for Shock Probation, defendant was referred to Drug Court.
Todd Fitzpatrick, 22 was present on the charge of CUSTODIAL INTERFERENCE, the defendant entered a guilty plea based on the Commonwealth offer in exchange for the charge being amended to a misdemeanor. The defendant to serve 2 weeks in jail, and no contact with Lou. Defendant remanded to BSRDC.

Carlos Hayes, 49 was present on charges of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY AND PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER. The case was set for jury trial on 8-9-17
Terry Hensley, 43 was present on a MOTION TO REVOKE PROBATION. Hearing set for 4-25-17.

Jack D. Smith, 44 pled guilty with Alford Plea on 3 COUNTS OF COMPLICITY TO MURDER, 3 COUNTS OF COMPLICITY TO ROBBERY, 1st degree, ARSON, 2nd DEGREE AND COMPLICITY TO TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. On the charges of murder the defendant receives life without the possibility of parole. On robbery the defendant received 20 years for every count, On arson the defendant receive 20 years, and on Tampering with Physical evidence, the defendant received 20 years. All charges are concurrent. Final sentencing will be held on 5-12-17.
Amanda Thomas, 35 was arraigned on TRAFFICKING IN A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1st offense (methamphetamine), 1st DEGREE POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, NAMELY HEROIN, AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA. Brett M. Thomas, 27 was present for sentencing on BURGLARY, 3rd degree. The defendant received 1 year to serve, 2 years supervised probation and defendant to stay out of Louisa Walmart.
John C. Thomas, 28 entered a guilty plea on charges of FORGERY based on an offer by the Commonwealth. Final sentencing will be held on 5-12-17.
