Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision on US 60 in Carter County

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (December 20, 2024) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 14 responded to a two-vehicle collision on US 60 near Greasy Creek Road in Carter County. The crash occurred on December 20, 2024, at approximately 8:56 P.M.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Austin Estepp, 28, lost control while traveling east on US 60. The vehicle spun into the westbound lane, where it was struck on the passenger side by a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country.

The Chevrolet’s driver, Austin Estepp, and front-seat passenger, Hunter Wallace, 18, were pronounced deceased at 9:45 P.M by the Carter County Coroner’s Office. The operator of the Chrysler was not injured during the collision.

KSP Post 14 Troopers were assisted at the scene by Carter County Sheriff’s Office, Olive Hill Fire Department, Carter County EMS, and the Carter County Coroner’s Office. Detective Nathan Carter is leading the ongoing investigation.
