Ft. Gay, W.Va. — The new Mayor of Fort Gay, Ralph Dent, appointed two new council members in a special meeting held Tuesday night. The seats were filled by Payton Rowe and Bobby Daniels.

New Council members Bobby Daniels & Payton Rowe.
Council member Daniels had this to say, “I just wanted to help the town. I’ve been a citizen here for 67 years and trying to give something back to the community”.
Council member Rowe said, “I’m very excited. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn new things and to make good changes for the community I live in and care deeply about.
The change comes after former Mayor Joetta Hatfield and former town Recorder Sheila Bowen resigned just weeks ago. Both are charged with multiple felonies, including fraudulent schemes, embezzlement, falsifying accounts, money laundering, and conspiracy.
