City of Louisa Urges Residents to Prioritize Safety During Fire Prevention Week
LOUISA, KY — In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Mayor Harold Slone and the City of Louisa urge all residents and local businesses to take proactive steps to protect their homes and workplaces from preventable fire hazards. A working smoke alarm cuts the risk of dying in a home fire in half, making this the ideal time to test existing detectors, install fresh batteries, and replace units older than ten years. Simple habits, such as keeping space heaters clear of flammable materials, never leaving cooking unattended, and establishing two clear exit routes from every room, save lives.
“Our dedicated firefighters at the Louisa Fire Department stand ready day and night to answer the call, but true fire safety starts well before an emergency occurs,” said Mayor Harold Slone. “I encourage every family across Louisa to sit down this week, map out a clear home escape plan, and practice it together. By taking just a few minutes today to check our alarms and review basic safety steps, we can ensure our entire community stays safe, prepared, and resilient.”
