KENTUCKY HOUSE MAJORITY CAUCUS STATEMENT
Sharp, Elkins applaud Auditor Ball’s leadership as she prepares for congressional testimony on executive branch audits
Frankfort, Kentucky (April 13, 2026) – The co-chairs of the Kentucky General Assembly’s Legislative Oversight and Investigations Committee released the following statement regarding news that Kentucky State Auditor Allison Ball will testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Government Operations regarding her work to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in federally funded programs in Kentucky. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 15 at 10 a.m. ET. A livestream of the full committee meeting will be available here:

“As a result of Auditor Ball’s leadership, Kentuckians have a clearer picture of how their tax dollars are being managed by the executive branch. Her work has uncovered more than a billion dollars in waste, fraud, and abuse, including a report late last year identifying more than $830 million in incorrectly paid Medicaid claims. Further investigations have brought to light questionable travel and advertising spending, mismanagement within major programs like Medicaid and the Transportation Cabinet, and millions more in wasteful spending that demand the Governor’s attention. Her efforts further prove that state government doesn’t have a funding problem, but rather our Governor has a priority problem.
“The fact that she has been invited to testify before Congress speaks volumes about the impact and credibility of her efforts. As co-chairs of the Legislative Oversight Committee, we commend Auditor Ball for her diligence and unwavering commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility. We will continue working to ensure these findings lead to meaningful reforms and that state government operates efficiently, responsibly, and in the best interest of the people of Kentucky.”
