ALLEGED ABUSE TOOK PLACE IN LATE SUMMER OF 2025; CHAPMAN STILL NOT LOCATED BY COPS

INDICTED CHILD KILLERS: PATRICK ZANE SPEER PHOTO TOP), 34, OF WARFIELD, KY., AND CHRISTINA CHAPMAN (PHOTO BOTTOM), 40, OF BEAUTY, KY., WERE INDICTED BY A MARTIN COUNTY GRAND JURY FOR CRIMINAL ABUSE THAT LED TO THE DEATH OF A 11 YEAR OLD BOY IN AUGUST 2025.
A Martin County grand jury indicted Patrick Zane Speer, 34, of Warfield, KY., (who also has an address listed in Louisa), and Christina Chapman, 40, of Beauty, KY., charging each with:

- First-Degree Criminal Abuse involving a Victim Under 12 Years Of Age; and
- Second-Degree Manslaughter.
According to the indictments, Patrick Speer and Christina Chapman abused a child under the age of 12 by placing him in a situation that may have caused serious physical injury. The indictments further allege the pair wantonly caused the juvenile’s death.
Bail for both Patrick Speer and Christina Chapman was $100,000.

Martin County Sheriff Office deputy Jameson Wall arrested Patrick Speer on Thursday, February 5. Patrick Speer is in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville. Law enforcement have yet currently to locate the whereabouts of Christina Chapman.

Martin County Coroner Chris Todd, the Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, and social services investigated at the scene. Chris Todd said he contacted the KSP-Post 9 and social services “immediately” about the case.

First-Degree Criminal Abuse involving a Victim Under 12 is a Class B felony punishable by ten (10) to twenty (20) years in prison. Second-Degree Manslaughter is a Class C felony punishable by five (5) to ten (10) years in prison.
