Message from the Sheriff

We normally get property taxes out in September but due to a delay in tax rates being finalized the 2025 property taxes will not be sent out until November 1. Although this is out of our control, we apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. The collection dates for 2025 taxes will be:
2% Discount November 1, 2025—November 30, 2025
Face Amount December 1, 2025—December 31, 2025
5% Penalty January 1, 2026—January 31, 2026
21% Penalty February 1, 2026—April 15, 2026
We cannot take any payments prior to November 1.
If you have moved since last tax season, please notify our office of your change of address. You can call us at (606) 638-4368 or email an address change to lawrencecountytax@yahoo.com.
Tax bills are mailed to the owner and address on record as of January 1.
We would also like to remind anyone over the age of 65 or on disability to sign up for the homestead or disability exemption. This exemption will take $49,100 off of your assessment. To sign up please visit or call the PVA office at (606) 638-4743. To qualify for the exemption, a person must be at least 65 years old during the tax period or classified as totally disabled by any public or private retirement system. The property must also be owned, occupied and maintained as the taxpayer’s personal residence on the January 1 assessment date to be eligible for this exemption.
