Louisa, Ky. — Never in a million years anybody would have thought that a Women’s Softball league would take off like it has in 2017 with eighty women on six different teams with games being played on Friday nights.
Louisa native Angela Null had a vision this past winter after playing in the Women’s league at Warfield last summer and wanted to bring something similar to her hometown and boy has she ever. I was thinking when she brought the idea up to me that we could get three teams and that would be a good start for the first year but once the word got out it has spread like wildfire.
The league has girls from three different states and seven different counties. Lawrence, Johnson, Boyd, Martin, and Floyd in Kentucky. Wayne Co. in West Virginia and Lawrence Co. in Ohio.
The ladies will play a 14 game schedule with a tournament at the end of the season. Each team has played six games so far.
Schedule for Friday July 7th
Big Field
6:30 Pink vs Green
7:30 Yellow vs Green
8:30 Pink vs Yellow
Little Field
6:30 Blue vs Orange
7:30 Purple vs Blue
8:30 Purple vs Orange
Standings as of July 3rd
Pink 6-0
Yellow 5-1
Blue 4-2
Orange 3-3
Green 0-6
Purple 0-6
The league would like to thank LC Heat travel softball for providing concessions at the games. Profits from sales allows the younger girls to play in leagues and tournaments this summer.

DIRECTOR’S COMMENTS
“… I am astonished about this turnout of women who are putting their hearts out there to be role models for our children and small town. Every Friday night my heart fills with joy and excitement to see these smiling faces of not only our players but as well as our spectators enjoying the game of softball.”
