It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Virgil Moore, known affectionately as Buddy Boy, Pap, and Grandpa, on July 11th, 2026.
Born in Louisa, Kentucky on December 9th, 1951, Virgil lived a life steeped in humility, resilience, love, and laughter. A resident of Blaine, Kentucky at the time of his passing, Virgil had also spent parts of his life in Louisa, Kentucky and Columbus, Ohio. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated laborer, employed in the construction trades before his retirement. Virgil was a man of great strength and tenacity, always facing life’s trials with a resilient spirit and a ready laugh. His humble demeanor and charming humor made him a beloved figure in his community. Even in his leisure time, he was known to lend a helping hand to friends and family, displaying his loving nature.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Virgil also had a knack for working on vehicles. His love for these hobbies was only surpassed by his love for his family, which was at the heart of everything he did. Virgil was a devout Baptist, often seen reading his Bible or attending church. His faith was a significant part of his life, providing him with guidance and comfort. As a testament to his faith, we are reminded of the verse in Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth,” a verse that embodies Virgil’s humility and kindness.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife of many years, Erma, and his children; Virgil (April) Moore, Buddy (Susan) Moore, Saul Moore, and Jonathan Moore. He was a proud grandfather to Jessica, James, Morgan, Emily, Laiken, and Madison, and a doting great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Peggy Winfrey, Don Moore, and Sol Moore.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Doris Moore, and his sister, Linda Evans.
