Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland Investigating Injury Collision
Ashland, Ky. (March 6, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland is investigating a single vehicle collision which resulted in multiple injuries. The collision occurred around 0741 AM yesterday morning on KY 8 in the area of the Greenup/Lewis County line.
Lacey C. Glenn, age 23, of Portsmouth, OH was operating a 2000 Nissan Altima and traveling west bound on KY 8. Glenn lost control and veered off the roadway and struck a storm culvert. After striking the culvert the vehicle became airborne and overturned several times before coming to final rest in a field next to KY 8.
Glenn, sustained minor injuries and was transported to SOMC for treatment.
Three passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
Kari L. Harrison, age 25, of South Shore, KY sustained minor injuries and was transported to SOMC for treatment.
Alisha D. Evans, age 24, of South Portsmouth, KY sustained several serious injuries (back, rib and facial injuries) and was also transported to SOMC for treatment.
Casey Swearingen, age 25, of Vanceburg, KY sustained potentially life threatening injuries and was transported to Grant Medical Hospital. (As of 400PM on Monday March 6, 2017 Swearingen had improved to stable condition, but is still being treated for her injuries.)
Both alcohol involvement and fatigue appear to be contributing factors in the collision. None of the occupants were properly wearing safety belts.
Multiple agencies responded including: South Shore Fire Department, Portsmouth Ambulance, MTS Ambulance, Health net and Air Evac.
The Collision remains under investigation by Trooper Patrick Hamilton.
