Eastern Kentuckian Tyra Short set to open the evening
Prestonsburg, Ky. – Fresh from being nominated for two Academy of Country Music Awards, young country music duo Maddie & Tae will grace the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) stage on Saturday, March 25. The pair have been included in the categories of “Vocal Duo of the Year” and “New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year.”
Maddie & Tae introduced their debut single “Girl In A Country Song” shortly after signing with Dot Records. Featured on their debut album “Start Here,” of which they penned each of the eleven tracks, the Platinum-certified breakout hit soared atop the Country radio charts and made them only the third female duo to peak their debut single at No. 1 in the history of the Billboard Country singles chart.
The response was instant. NPR’s “All Things Considered” cited Maddie & Tae for “turning heads in different ways with their very first single,” Rolling Stone cited them as one of “10 New Artists You Need to Know” and David Letterman couldn’t get the duo to New York fast enough. Even The Atlantic marveled, “Cheekily appropriating much of the sound of modern country, the two young women directly quote well-known bro-country lyrics and titles…”
The video garnered over 38 million views and scored the duo their first-ever award: CMA Video of the Year. Other chart topping singles include “Fly,” Shut up and Fish,” and “Sierra.”
Maddie & Tae conquered their first headlining Start Here Tour, before joining Lee Brice’s Life Off My Years Tour and most recently wrapping dates with Brad Paisley’s Life Amplified World Tour. The young talents partnered with Bloomingdale’s in the Fall of 2016 to offer a Special Time Capsule line that embodies their youthful spirit. Early his year, they were featured in Forbes’ “30 under 30” list.
