“I believe we should have Trick or Treat with safety recommendations,” Mayor Harold Slone said during Tuesday night’s Louisa City Council meeting.
The council’s decision to have Trick or Treat was unanimous with council members agreeing on an extension of time so that social distancing can be practiced.
“Some will disagree with this decision, but it is an outdoor activity and I believe we should have it,” Slone added.
The council approved to add an extra hour for Trick or Treat. So instead of it being 5 pm to 7 pm, it will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, October 31. The Mayor strongly recommends that social distancing should be a high priority on this night.
In other city business the mayor announced that the Sewer Infiltration Project that’s making the drive through town a little complicated, should improve once the concrete boxes that were put in for curb drains are in and in place on Pike Street. Mayor Slone explained that there were some changes made to the drains and that due to COVID, there has been a delay in getting the materials which has slowed this process down.
Another Agenda item that Mayor Slone discussed was getting bids for building bathroom facilities at the Lawrence County Park and Riverwalk. Slone says that bathroom facilities will benefit the park. He said he hopes that before the next City Council meeting, he will be able to advertise for bids.
All other Agenda items were approved unanimously.
Audience member Wade Queen was in attendance as a citizen and not a Lazer reporter spoke to the members about how not having a laundromat in the city is possibly raising their water bills.
The city’s lone facility for washing and drying clothes was lost in a fire two months ago by the Blankenship family on Preece Brothers Highway leaving the city ‘hung out to dry’.
Queen said many of those without a washer and dryer have to wash their clothes in the bathtub and that it is causing a spike in their water usage causing higher bills.
Queen also discussed how the laundromat in Ft. Gay is not equipped to handle all the families without washers in the area. Some are even going to Cattletsburg to do their laundry.
how are you going to practice social distance when giving out candy to the kids? i guess you could stand back 6 ft and throw it to them and if that wasn’t thought out enough they went and added another hour
KAG, you can just hide under the safety of your rock until the Democrats tell you it’s safe to come out again.

Joe C, I totally misjudged you and I am sorry.

Yes, have fun, but use your common sense. Keep your distance, follow the guidelines!
And turn toward Mecca, and worship Nancy Pelosi!
TRUMP 2020.
People could bag the candy in a sandwich bag or treat bags and leave it in a basket or tub that way the treater don’t come in contact with anyone. These kids haven’t had much social activity. Geez let them have a good trick or treat.
Keep your distance?! Why?!
