HERITAGE HARVEST TOUR WILL BE ON SATURDAY…

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission had a Regular Meeting on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 5:30PM at Taco Bell, Louisa. The air conditioning is still not working at the Fred M. Vinson Museum so the commission gathered at Taco Bell.
LC Tourism Commissioner Wes Kingsmore was in attendance along with the Tourism Members including Brenda Hardwick, Kate Cecil, Chris Jobe, Susie Chambers, Christy Moore and Debbie Hill. Tom Bradley was absent.
EHN MEETING
This is a Tourism highlight where Lawrence and surrounding counties meet. The following Counties are participating Lawrence County, Ashland, Greenup County, Prestonsburg, Russell and Morehead. There will be speakers and a lunch. Wes Kingsmore will be attending on behalf of Lawrence County, Kentucky. The meeting is today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
HERITAGE HARVEST TOUR
The Heritage Harvest Tour will be this Saturday, September 26, 2026. There are 23 sites to visit this year. See the map and locations on THELEVISALAZER.COM
This Tour travels from Lawrence County to Boyd County with lots of fun at each stop.
HARVEST MOON GALA
The Harvest Moon Gala is scheduled for Thursday September 24, 2026 at the County Extension office in Louisa. You get the choice of steak or chicken for dinner beginning at 6:45pm. LC Tourism will purchase a table for this event.
MINUTES FOR AUGUST MEETING
The Minutes for the August Meeting were unanimously approved with a Motion by Kate Cecil and seconded by Christy Moore.
APPROVAL OF AUGUST FINANCIAL REPORT
The August Financial Report was unanimously approved with a Motion by Christy Moore and seconded by Susie Chambers.
“TAKE A HIKE DAY”
On Saturday November 13, 2026 will be Take a Hike Day. Everyone is welcomed to Hike the Trails at Yatesville Lake on this day with Tourism members.
TURKEY TROT
This event will be on Thanksgiving morning. More to come in the following months.
HAUNTED HAYRIDE AT LAWRENCE COUNTY PARK
LC Tourism donated $1,000 to the Haunted Hayride at Lawrence County Park sponsored by A Ray of Hope. Motion by Susie Chambers and seconded by Debbie Hill. None Opposed.

Lawrence County Tourism Minutes, August 17, 2026

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 5:30 pm at the Junction. Members in attendance were Chairman Wes Kingsmore, Chris Jobe, Christy Moore, Debbie Hill, Tom Bradley, Kate Cecil and Susie Chambers. Committee member Brenda Hardwick attended, as well as Susan Salyer from the Levisa Lazer.
Wes called the meeting to order and gave the opening prayer.
Old business: 1) LC Fair was successful and the kids did really well 2) We feel good about participants for the Heritage Harvest Tour 3) The Harvest Moon Gala is on Thursday, Sept. 24th, with a motion by Debbie and a second by Susie we voted to spend up to $800 for this event. All in favor, however, Tom abstained, as he is a member of the extension board.
Minutes were read and one correction was made. The correct group referred to in the July minutes was actually EHN not EKN. Minutes were approved with the correction with a motion by Tom and a second by Kate. All in favor.
The financial report was presented showing a balance of $11,021.27 as of 7/31/26. A motion was made to accept this report by Susie with a second by Christy. All in favor.
New business: 1) A request was made for the Septemberfest fishing tournament and a donation of $1,500.00 was approved with a motion by Susie and a second by Christy. All in favor. 2) The Saddle Club is under new leadership and a request was made for their Septemberfest ride. A motion was made by Chris and a second by kate to donate $500.00 for this event. All in favor. 3) We approved up to $1,070.00 for an ad with Miles Group. Motion by Tom with a second by Chris. All in favor. 4) Approval was made to donate $1,000.00 to MOMO Theatre with a motion by Susie and a second by Christy. All in favor.
The meeting was adjourned with a motion by Debbie and a second by Susie. All in favor.
