According to totals released by WSAZ News this morning the following were elected as Ft. Fay officials after previous city officials were removed. Mayor Joetta Hatfield and Recorder Sheila Preston have been indicted for stealing $200,000 from city funds last year. As a result the acting mayor and others were also removed from office.

“…Voters went to the polls on Tuesday in the town of Fort Gay to decide on races, including mayor.
According to unofficial returns, Bob Sword overcame his challengers Ralph Dent and Tim Kitts in the mayoral race. Sword received 63 votes, while Dent and Kitts received 30 and 19 votes, respectively.
In the recorder race, Wade T. Cyrus received 86 votes and was running unopposed.
It was a similar situation for the municipal judge race. Larry Britt received 90 votes.

The top five vote-getters in the town council race are: Greg Cavins (79), Jamie Frasher (79), Wilts Salmons (74), Payton Rowe (64), and Bobby Daniels (51).”
