LOUISA, Ky. — (9:28 am  on 2/28/25) A teacher at Lawrence County High School was suspended for 10 days with pay at last month’s LC BOE meeting pending further investigation.
No report of the case was made. Yesterday Supt. Katie Webb told The Lazer in a message that band teacher Scott Smith spent only one day on suspension and returned to the classroom.
Scott Smith
The charges against him were found to be “unsubstantiated”, she reported. She did not say whether an apology was issued to Mr. Smith, who had an otherwise clean slate. He was reportedly accused several years ago but charges were found to be a fluke also.
Here is the response from Supt. Webb:
“…Mr. Grayson,
Thank you for clarifying which teacher. The policy regarding paid suspensions (3.173) which I sent to you in January says paid suspensions can last for up to 10 days. Mr. Smith was suspended for one (1) day with pay. During the course of the investigation, the district found the claims to be unsubstantiated and he was allowed to return to work.
Thank you,
Katie H. Webb
