FORT GAY, W. VA. — In only the second year of the program, Fort Gay Middle School’s softball team won two games and steadily improved throughout the season.

The win total wasn’t where the team wanted it to be but the growth in each girl was tremendous and will only benefit for years to come and will also help the Tolsia high school softball team as well.
The team honored six eighth graders late last week.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“…I’ve been with these girls from day one and they went from not knowing anything about the game at all to being able to call out where the play is going. They have improved 100% since last season and they are still learning. From a bunch a girls that were behind in experience compared to all the other teams they came out each game this year and tried there best!”
“… With only having 2 pitchers to share the circle they both did pretty good, one of which this was her first year pitching and the other only in her second year. One of those pitchers was Sydnee Black and the other is Ella Hatfield a 7th grader this year. Both girls along with the others have come a long way.
“… To come from nothing to winning a couple games and having some close games was a major improvement. From catching fly balls and ground balls each and every girl improved in all aspects of the sport!”
