Ashland, Ky. — Lawrence Co. Softball is off to a 3-0 start after 14-0 mercy rule victory over Ashland ( 0-1 ) on Thursday evening.
2023 LC Softball Seniors
Allie Triplett, Kensley Feltner, Ella Fitzpatrick
Bree Jones went 4-4 including a double, scored four times and drove in one, Kensley Feltner had two hits, drove in three runs and scored twice, Dani Crum had two hits including a double, drove in a run and scored twice, Allie Triplett had two hits, one run batted in and scored twice, Abby Nelson had one hit, three runs batted in and scored twice, Jada Patton doubled, scored once and drove in two runs, Shelby Blevins had one hit and drove in two runs, Emalynn Kitts scored once.
Taylor Blevins was the winning pitcher on the mound and improved to 2-0 on the season. She went five innings, gave up four hits, struck out two and walked five.
Lawrence Co. 14 Magoffin Co. 2 ( Wednesday )
The Bulldogs hit the road for the first time and came away with a five inning victory over the Hornets.
Dani Crum went 4-4 including a double, had three runs batted in and scored twice, Abby Nelson had three hits including two doubles, drove in two and scored once, Allie Triplett had two hits including a double, drove in four runs and scored once, Jaylee Maxie had two hits including a double, scored twice and drove in two runs, Abby Maynard had two hits and scored twice, Shelby Blevins had one hit and scored twice, Kensley Feltner had one hit and scored once, Braylee Triplett scored once.
Bree Jones was the winning pitcher going five innings, gave up six hits, two runs, struck out four and walked one. She helped her cause at the plate with two hits, one run batted in and scored twice.
Lawrence Co. 10 Pike Co. Central 0 ( Monday )
The Bulldogs opened the season with a big home victory over the Hawks.
Jaylee Maxie had two hits, drove in one and scored once, Abby Maynard doubled, scored twice and drove in a run, Allie Triplett doubled and drove in two runs, Abby Nelson had two runs batted in and scored once, Shelby Blevins and Bree Jones had one hit and one RBI each, Dani Crum had one it and scored once, Gracie Preece drove in a run, Kensley Feltner, Emalynn Kitts, Ella Smith, Leah Branham and Jada Patton all scored a run.
Taylor Blevins was magnificent in the circle for the five inning victory. She gave up two hits and struck out eight.
The Bulldogs will return to on Monday when they will travel to Johnson Central ( 1-1 ) who won the 15th region and then host defending 16th region champion Lewis Co. ( 0-1 ) on Tuesday.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Thought we played well this week, satisfied to a point but like I told the team after the Ashland game that I’m not settling for anything but a Region championship this season. I’m going to coach them hard this year. Probably harder than I ever have. We have a solid club right now.”
“… First time in a couple years that we have had a Senior on the team. They don’t feel like seniors though, I was hauling Kensley around when she was eight years old. Doesn’t seem right honestly. Anyone that knows our three seniors know that they are great leaders. Everyone knows what Kensley has done, Allie Triplett might be the toughest kid I’ve ever coached and Ella Fitzpatrick is so steady with her leadership so I’m very optimistic with this group.”
“… Good victory over Pike Co. Central on Monday and you got to remember I’m starting three basketball players that played in the State Tournament last Wednesday so I look forward to them to really get going, Abby Nelson has been really good early on and Kensley and Abby Maynard will as well. I’m excited so far but we need to clean up the little stuff and that will come with time. The big stuff really doesn’t bother me it’s the little things that drive me crazy.”
“… Big week for us coming up with Johnson Central and Lewis Co. I won’t have to say much to this bunch they will be ready.”
