SHOP AND SHARE DAY TO BENEFIT SAFE HARBOR
This year’s Shop & Share is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th from 9am to 5pm.
Shop and Share is organized by the First Lady’s Office and Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence to support emergency shelters across the state. Shop & Share was initiated by former First Lady Jane Beshear.
Locally, Shop and Share will be held at the Ashland and Russell Kroger stores and Food City store in Louisa.
Every item collected at our local stores helps survivors at Safe Harbor.
Shop & Share is a big day for our organization with lots and lots of community and volunteer support to make it possible! The support and items we receive the day of the event will help stock our shelter supplies for almost a year. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
This year will look a little different because of social distancing during the pandemic. Volunteers at Kroger locations will not be able to meet shoppers at the door to hand out our wish list, but they will have plenty of copies available at a table near the entrance.
Our wish list includes canned soup and vegetables, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, condiments, paper towels, diapers, and more. Some shoppers donate a couple of items, while others are inspired to donate more. We will also accept monetary and Kroger gift cards in lieu of donations.
We are currently seeking volunteers-community groups, work groups, faith groups, and individuals to help on May 8th from 9am-5pm to help distribute shopping lists, answer shopper questions, load, and sort donations.
