Prestonsburg, KY – Bruce Aaron Davis, CEO of Big Sandy Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (Big Sandy RECC), and Charles Huskie, American Electric Power (AEP) representative, came to support another cohort of BSCTC’s line worker program.
Davis addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of their chosen career path and the vital role line workers play in maintaining the region’s electrical infrastructure. He expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership between BSCTC and local electric companies, highlighting the potential for these students to contribute to the continued growth and reliability of the electrical grid.
Charles Huskie, AEP Senior Training Specialist, shared insights into the industry and the various career opportunities in their organization. Their presence emphasized the potential for career advancement in the electrical utility sector.
BSCTC instructors Harvey Martin and Brian Phillips emphasized their commitment to providing students with a comprehensive education that combines classroom learning with hands-on training, preparing them for the challenges and responsibilities of a line worker.
“Our program allows students the opportunity to work closely with local electric companies, gaining valuable practical experience and building relationships with potential employers,” stated Phillips.
