Rain Stopped Lawrence Co. / Floyd Central Baseball Game On Tuesday Night; Two Teams Will Meet Again On Wednesday

Louisa, Ky. — A thunderstorm halted the 58th District matchup on Tuesday with Floyd Central leading Lawrence Co. 7-3 in the sixth inning. 

The game will resume on Wednesday at Floyd Central in the bottom of the six inning with the Bulldogs coming to bat. After that game is complete the two teams will play the regularly scheduled game. 

Lawrence County needs one win to clinch the number one seed in the 58th District tournament. 

 Lawrence Co. 16 Martin Co. 1 

Last Wednesday at home Boedy Maynard tossed a four inning one hitter and went 3-3 at the plate with a double and three runs batted in to lead the Bulldogs over the Cardinals. 

Gray Derifield had two hits including a double and two RBI’s, Cam Perkins and Max Murriell doubled, scored twice and drove in two runs, Eli Fletcher doubled drove in one and scored twice, Brady Caudill doubled, drove in two runs and scored once, Logan Whisenant singled, CJ Whitt scored two runs. 

Lawrence Co. 6 Belfry 0 

Braxton Davis was magnificent on the mound throwing a complete game five hitter to lead the Bulldogs to a home victory over the Pirates ( 14-7 ) last Tuesday. 

Brady Caudill doubled and had two runs batted in, Eli Fletcher doubled and scored a run, Colin Howard and Gray Derifield singled, drove in a run and scored once, Logan Whisenant, Steve Hall and Cam Perkins scored a run each. 

The Bulldogs will travel to Paintsville ( 17-4 ) on Thursday at 6:00 before having the rest of the week off for Prom on Saturday.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Two good outings on the mound against Belfry and Martin Co. before getting rained out on Thursday and Friday. We also didn’t get to play on Saturday because of lack of umpires.” 

“ We need to take care of business at Floyd Central on Wednesday.”
