Long story short … my son was put on the wrong bus at Louisa West. The bus driver dropped him off with no parent or anyone. He was running thru pouring rain thru Meadowbrook for 15 mins when a random person picked him up and brought him home. He was soaking wet, an emotional wreck & scared. The school is sweeping everything under the rug I can elaborate that’s just the jist. I moved my child to Fallsburg but I am going to new outlets they just wanna act like he couldn’t have been ran over, struck by lightening or kidnapped. He was running from Meadowbrook to 1690 where I live!!!!!!

The emotional damage both of us, along with his dad, have suffered is unbelievable. Sorry isn’t going to fix this. Someone needs to be held responsible. I feel like both the superintendent and principal handled the situation wrong and dismissed every concern I had as a parent.
They were both very rude to me, like I was somehow in the wrong for even wanting a meeting with them. I tried moving my child out of the classroom (not only due to this incident but multiple things with this teacher) and they would not do it. Said I don’t make the rules. Seems to be a power trip to me.
I will be heard if I have to go the highest level!
One last thing, how would you feel Mr. Maynard or Mr. Fletcher if your child was running in the street in a horrible storm crying, soaking wet, screaming for their mommy? Would you handle the situation different? Would you handle it different if it was a family you knew personally who always gets favored? Some parents can pick their kids class just because who they are, but a situation like this happens and you wont allow it?!
I would also like to sincerely thank Clara Smith for picking my scared baby up and bringing him home. If you weren’t coming thru the area he could’ve been ran over, struck by lightening or kidnapped. I owe everything to you, but nothing to the school!
Furthermore this is child endangerment and negligence. If the roles were reversed and I put my child in harms way like the school did, I would be in jail. What makes the school any less accountable?”

Fletcher don’t give a damn about anyone or anything unless it favors him. I’ve had troubles from him since day one. I’ve had my autistic son put on the wrong bus several times but he refused to get off the bus if I wasn’t there. He would throw such a fit the school had to call me. I was lucky to say the least. This is ridiculous and they never admit their at fault. I hope you get help with this. I would say lawsuit. Lawrence county has never won a lawsuit even the one that they should of been hands down won in their sleep. I know that’s not exactly what your wanting but at least then something would be done and the blame assigned to the right people!

This is absolutely horrible. I can’t imagine my son out in a thunder storm running down the road, scared to death and alone. What if someone had I’ll intentions and came up on this little boy? This, along with the other issues this little boy has suffered with this teacher is honestly enough to fire this teacher. But all this mother asked was for her son to be moved to a different class and they wouldn’t even accommodate that?! I for sure think a lawsuit for negligence and emotional distress is in order.
Push for justice, they need to be held accountable. I feel for them Justin was done the same way in 1994 and the next year, first day kindergarten and first day 1st grade, was taken all the way to yellow creek and then put over in a man’s private vehicle and sent back to school and turned out on the side walk look around and our baby coming down the side walk alone.. two years in a row.. this should not happen. They need fired and reprimanded for actions and there responsibility. Lawrence County has been this way for years they will lie, lie, lie to your face principal, teachers all of them. PUSH IT!!!
Fallsburg is no better. There’s been bad cases of bullying swept under the rug because it involved a teachers kid as the aggressor. Nobody, staff included, likes the principal either. You can bet if this incident occurred there the outcome would be identical. “All In LC” is a joke. More like “All for Fletcher’s Inner Circle.”
I love how you can say staff included no one likes the principal at Fallsburg. If that were so why do they all still teach there? Why is their culture so good in the building? Why are they the highest performing school in the district and one of the top in the area? Perhaps rather than spread fake news, spewing hate we focus on spreading positivity through out this community! Pathetic that anything that happens in Lawrence County has to be an opportunity for some to share their unwanted opinion on completely unrelated issues! Shame on you for taking away from this parents story!
Could be that they have 12 kids in a class??? Town classes are full! I would expect the highest scores from kids that are in those extremely small class sizes. No one in town sits with these size classes.
And then they get mad when levies are voted down. Teachers always wanting a raise. No one wants to be accountable. I am just so glad I don’t have any children in school here and my grandchildren live in Paintsville!!!!
Fletcher pours words out like sugar but he’s as sour as they come. He does nothing to correct problems people have with teachers or principals. Go to the board meetings. You’ll see his true colors.
Something definitely needs to be done about this, someone needs to be held accountable and action taken against them. Totally unacceptable incident.
No a lawsuit isn’t going to solve the problem. Only people who sue for this kind of thing only want money. Money will not change anything. Need to meet with parents and child and discuss with the child what happened and how they are going to not this mistake again with any child.
I agree 100%. When I hear lawsuit, I hear “I am putting a monetary value on what my child went through.” No amount of money is going to help solve the problem. It’s not their money that would be lost in a lawsuit, it would be the taxpayers money. I am 100% in favor of resolving the problem so it never happens again.
This is exactly why we moved to Greenup. The schools in Lawrence county are a joke, even more so than when I attended. Get you a lawyer honey. Someone needs to be held responsible for what happened to your precious baby. Take it all the way. Praying for you!
Fletcher is massively egotistical, rude, and caters to the “in-crowd”. And the whole school system puts priority on sports and sports kids, all while nearly every single school facility we have needs work. Louisa west looks like something from a third world country, the middle school roof leaks like a sieve and has mold problems. And all the other schools are getting age on them and need replaced at some point. We have by far the worst school facilities of any surrounding county. But they blow $1million on football turf.
Yessss it’s a {censored} joke it’s one problem to the next and the teacher’s principals and all are the biggest bullies to the students especially if your not a high class individual or a sports 🏀 🏈 kid I’m scared to send my kids daily my anxiety is ridiculously high every day I set by my phone also my kids now have anxiety where they get sick when going or get to the school because they don’t know what’s gonna happen that day and if they get sick well f that they don’t care they only worry about their nasty pay checks and screaming”” your truant!!””” ALWAYS because heaven forbid anyone get sick and you better not get sick more than 6 days a year 🤣 like really kiss my******* they wouldn’t be this way about it if it wasn’t affecting their paychecks sadly….they don’t care if kids learn anything ppshhhh…. only school system I have ever seen like them and it’s disgusting and definitely not bulldog proud as they say 🙄 But will anything be done this poor baby boy’s situation should never been done this way anything those parents asked they should have accommodated and no hesitation and still apologize daily !!!! Hell they don’t even have enough middle school teachers at BES. Now they are threatening to make Blaine middle school kids go to Louisa Middle. According to the ACTC coordinator BES is the lowest paying school in Lawrence County for teachers. Where did all the money go they got to do all the remodeling to all the school. Louisa West is so old and run down it should be torn down. Why not join east and west together the other two elementary are like that but that isn’t good enough for the city school.

What don’t you understand about it? Yes the school is run down and in dire need of improvements. The same tired argument that’s presented is where has all the money gone for 30 years for these said improvements? That’s the whole jist of it. I attended school there 30 years ago. It’s not been updated hardly at all! Plenty of tax money is collected annually! More than enough to operate with payroll, supplies and updates! Most likely a new school will be built. People are sick of being taxed so much in every aspect of life. We aren’t Boyd Co, we aren’t Pike county, and we aren’t Johnson Co. we constantly get compared to neighboring counties. We don’t have 40% of the business they have to raise the taxes. People don’t want kids getting sick or being in harms way as you so often comment. Social media and avenues such as this allow people like you to spew your nonsense that you typically wouldn’t say in a real conversation. It’s honestly what’s wrong with the world right now. So fire back with how my speech isn’t up to par or how I’m uneducated. Have a good day and please donate all you have to these improvements because I’m sure you let your home fall in and wish for a handout as well rather than repairing it.
Wasn’t aware there were so many school system experts in Lawrence county that had such a firm grasp on child safety, accountability, and school bus protocol. Since so many have found the time to complain about employees doing their best to assist all schoolchildren, perhaps they can come together and volunteer their time and wealth of knowledge provide a full proof plan without the possibility of a failure.
Where I live, the elementary kids have color coded badges that are attached to their book bag. The color is for their age because kids this young have to have someone present to be permitted off the bus. The color tag clues the bus driver in to this with a quick glance. On that color tag is the bus number as well. Each day, teachers are alerted to bus changes in case a parent is picking them up, going to grandmas or whatever. These tags ensure these kiddos get home safely. If no one is there to meet the little ones, the school is contacted and the kid is returned to the school. The adult has to come and get them.
The same thing happened to my step son at wayne elm several years ago. They too acted like it was no big deal.
This is a scary thought, I can’t imagine how scared this baby was! I hope someone is held responsible, but also be careful with fallsburg it really isn’t any better, I know several people that’s had a ton of problems out of that principal and several teachers

Home schooling is legal in KY. If you don’t like the school system take your kids out of it and teach them yourselves.
