Several indictments handed down Friday by a Lawrence Co. Grand Jury are linked to the same Organized Crime Ring, a Lawrence Co. Sheriff’s dept. release said. Nineteen mostly Lawrence Countians (two were from Pike Co., Ky and one from W.Va.) were charged for conspiring to Traffic In A Controlled Substance on a continued basis and are now looking at a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, some who are repeat offenders are also charged with Persistent Felony Offender which could enhance their sentence significantly.

Prince M. Stevens, 25 of Louisa, Ky. Indicted By The Grand Jury For Engaging In Organized Crime (Class B Felony) Penalty: 10 to 20 years. Bond set for $20,000.
Nicholas Hackney, 27 of Louisa, Ky. Indicted By The Grand Jury For Engaging In Organized Crime (Class B Felony) Penalty: 10 to 20 years. Bond set for $20,000.
Paul Timothy Shane Hackney, 35 of Louisa, Ky. Indicted by The Grand Jury For Engaging In Organized Crime (Class B Felony) Penalty: 10 To 20 Years. Bond set for $20,000.
Alexis J. Boyd, 23 of Louisa, Ky. Indicted by the Grand Jury For Engaging In Organized Crime (class B felony) Penalty: 10 to 20 years. Bond set for $20,000.

The Grand Jury charges that from August 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017 in Lawrence County the above named defendants committed the offense of Engaging In Organized Crime by knowingly and unlawfully committing or in the commission of, the offense of Trafficking In A Controlled Substance In The 1st° on a continuing basis with four or more individuals.

The grand jury charges that on or before September 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully misrepresented statements to obtain welfare benefits with the intent to defraud, made a false statement or misrepresentation or by other means failed to disclose a material fact used in determining the persons qualification to receive benefits and or any assistance program, or with the intent to defraud, failed to report a change in the factors affecting the persons eligibility for benefits, resulting in overpayment of $18,523.
William Chafin, 29 of Louisa, Ky. Indicted on Fraudulent Use Of A Credit Card (class D felony) Penalty: 1 to 5 years
The grand jury charges that on July 8, 2017 through September 18, 2017 the defendant committed the offense by knowingly and unlawfully misappropriating or attempting to misappropriate of food stamp authorization to purchase card, food stamp identification card or a Medicaid identification card or misappropriate other benefits from any program with which the person has been assigned responsibility, nor shall the person knowingly fail to report any of these activities.
April Harper, 33 Louisa, Ky. Indicted On Fraudulent Use Of An EBT Card (class D felony), Possession Of A Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (class D felony) Penalty: 1 to 5 years and Theft By Unlawful Taking (shoplifting) (class D felony) Penalty 1-5 years and Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (misdemeanor)
The Grand Jury charges that on September 18, 2017 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully misappropriating or attempting to misappropriate of food stamp authorization to purchase card, food stamp identification card or a Medicaid identification card or misappropriate other benefits from any program in which the person has been a as signed responsibility, nor shall the person fail to report any activities, the defendant possessed a schedule II controlled substance, namely hydrocodone and knowingly and unlawfully taking $39.82 worth of items from Walmart of Louisa Kentucky. Bond is $5000.

The grand jury charges that on September 18, 2017 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully misappropriating or attempting to misappropriate a food stamp authorization to purchase card, food stamp identification card or a Medicaid identification card or misappropriate other benefits from any program with which the person has been assigned responsibility, nor shall the person knowingly fail to report any of these activities.
