This year the Lawrence County Fair board was excited to announce Motocross into the list of fair activities. After Judge Phil Carter, Vince Doty, Tristate MX, and Rick Blackburn had a few meetings the track construction was under way.
Turn out for the event was around 300 spectators and participants. There were over 97 entrants in the event.
Riders like Ethan Perry, from Louisa, said, “It was the best time ever! I had a blast riding with all my buddies and making memories. His mom was so excited for him and all the riders. She said, ”The track was awesome! It was great sharing the excitement with everyone around. We love having the MX track here at home and we are all excited for future events!”
There were several riders from Lawrence County including Brady Jobe. Brady and his friends have been having to travel hours away to ride.
“I am very happy to see this come to fruition,” Jobe said. “To have a track of this caliber in our back yard is a great step for the community. I was lucky enough to help lay some of the first lines on the track and I look forward to what it will do for the community in the future.“
Another family deeply rooted in the dirt track motor cycle riding mostly with the woods racing is the Brady Family.
While Myram and Ryan chase their kids around the track, Ryland and Aubrey are racking up the points. Normally racing in southern states, Ryan said, ”After usually traveling hours to race it was so nice to be minutes from home. The set up was great and the track was awesome!”
“This is amazing that we can have this in our community. There were so many racers traveling from far away to our small town. We are excited for the future of racing here.“
COUNTY TO SET A FALL RACE DATE, PRACTICE GUIDELINES
There were over 30 classes for riders of all ages from 4 years to open. If you missed it, the fair board and fiscal court will be looking to set a fall date with Tristate MX on the “Skyview MX” track, until then they are working on setting some guidelines for practicing on the course.
