Tolsia wins first ever ‘on campus’ baseball game over Mingo Central
Fort Gay, W. Va. — Tolsia has played baseball for 28 years and Tuesday night was the first time they have ever played at the high school. The Rebels opened up the new field in style with a 9-6 victory over Mingo Central.
Tolsia senior hurler Seth McMillion pitched all seven innings to get the first ever win on the new field.
Trey Smith was the hitting star going 3-3 with 2 singles, a double, 3 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases.
Tolsia had always played at the old Fort Gay field until it was taken and used to build a K-8 school. The team has played on the road the last four years with nowhere to really practice, it has been a struggle. With the new field interest has really picked up with 30 players out this year.
The REBELS play at home today vs Poca at 6:00
...As a former Tolsia baseball player this is really a site to see. I’m so glad the players have a new field that they can be proud of. It has been way to long. Can’t imagine playing road games every day and nowhere to practice. This will only help the program for the future. –Bo.
