Nine (9) male inmates have been charged in the foiled escape plan that was uncovered on Monday October 15t h, 2018.
Big Sandy Regional Detention Center Correction Officers found the hole in the back wall of the inmates’ shower area during a routine security check causing the Facility to be placed into lock-down.
All of the involved cell mates were charged by Investigating Officer Zack Mitchell of the Paintsville Police Department, with Escape in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree.
Five (5) of the inmates; Robbie Lee Prater, Curtis Dale Rowe, Jeffery Lee Stanley, Shannon Lee Jude and Keith Anthony Penix Jr. are being held on $10,000.00 Cash Bonds as set by Johnson County District Judge Kevin Holbrook.
The other four (4) inmates; Justin Derek Combs, John Douglas May, Daniel Edwin Bell and James Garrett Ison (all State Inmates) are being held on No Bond allowed, as set by Johnson County District Judge Kevin Holbrook.
Both of the new charges are Class D Felonies and carry a possible sentence of one (1) to five (5) years and/or a $10,000.00 fine on each count if found guilty.
