National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in Lawrence County Humane Society to Save and Improve the Lives of Pets in Lawrence Co., Ky.
Louisa, KY (April 01, 2024) – The Lawrence County Humane Society is set to receive a $4,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Lawrence County, Kentucky.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $375 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.75 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in the Lawrence County Humane Society is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“Receiving this lifesaving investment from Petco Love allows the Lawrence County Humane Society of Louisa, Kentucky to continue the very important endeavor of helping pets and people in the community, as we have done for 30 years. This allows us to continue with this labor of love, which is needed even more now as so many shelters and rescues are in crisis with pets and people needing assistance,” said Kim Perry, Lawrence County Humane Society President.
The Lawrence County Humane Society is a nonprofit organization that has provided animal sheltering services to more than 17,000 pets in Lawrence County, Kentucky since 1994. Since 2016, 1,400 cats have been spayed or neutered for pet parents in Lawrence County. During this time 900 community cats have been altered and relocated out of harm’s way. A large population of these community cats live at the shelter.
