Montgomery Co. Knocks Down State Record 16 Threes To Bounce Lawrence Co. From State Tournament

Lexington, Ky. — In front of 12,774 fans Lawrence County’s season came to end to 10th region champion Montgomery County 98-72 in the first round of the 107th KHSAA state tournament on Thursday afternoon at Rupp Arena.

Kaiden Harris goes up for a shot against Montgomery Co. in the first round of the state tournament on Thursday.
Kaiden Harris led the Dawgs in scoring with 18 points, had 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Kaden Johnson tallied 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Gunnar Woods netted 15 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Hayden Perry added 10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Luke Fetherolf had 7 points and 4 rebounds. Caden Muncy had 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Wyatt Branham had 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Braxton Davis chipped in with 2 points.

Lawrence Co. ( 23-11 ) was 2 of 20 from beyond the arc and 14 of 30 from the free throw line.

Montgomery Co. ( 23-10 ) was led by Luke Fawns with 23 points and 8 rebounds, Tyce Jarvis 21 points and 7 rebounds, Cayden Reed 15 points and 10 assists. Dawson Gentry 8 points, Ethan Dunn 8 points and 5 assists, Dane Klute 7 points and 7 rebounds, Andrew Terry 6 points and 14 rebounds, Austin Hatton and Price Campbell 3 points each, Noah Routt and Isiah Rowlett 2 points each. 
The Indians hit a state tournament record 16 three pointers on 32 attempts and went 6 of 7 from the from free throw line.

The Bulldogs lose three seniors off of this team in Wyatt Branham, Kasen Staniford and Keadan Ellis but return a very good nucleus of players to make another run at the state tournament.
