AND YOU THINK SHE JUST ‘CRAZY!!’ BUT SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT AN “ANGEL”: MINGO CO., WVA WOMAN, ARRESTED IN DECEMBER 2025 VIOLENT ATTACK ON PIKEVILLE WOMAN IN PIKE COUNTY, KY IS ORDERED TO UNDERGO PSYCHIATRIC EXAMINATION

NUTTIER THAN FRUIT CAKE..OF THE EVIL KIND: ANGEL JOY HUNT, 29, OF WHARNCLIFFE, WEST VIRGINIA.

A Mingo County, West Virginia woman who is accused of brutally attacking a Pike County woman back in December 2025 has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric examination.
Angel Joy Hunt, 29, of Wharncliffe, W.VA., is charged with:
*MURDER (ATTEMPT);
*ASSAULT, 1ST DEGREE;
*STRANGULATION 1ST DEGREE (NON-DOMESTIC VIOLENCE);
*ARSON, 3RD DEGREE; and two charge counts of:
*TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE.

The investigation began when a woman was found lying on a bench outside of a burning house in Freeburn, KY.. The woman had multiple cuts, bruises and burns, and police say her eyes were swollen shut and she was bleeding from her ears.

When the woman awoke in the hospital three days later, she was able to tell police that Angel Hunt allegedly tied her hands behind her back, choked her with her hands and put her toes inside an Amish heater. The victim also said Angel Hunt also punched her, stomped on her, and broke glass across her back, and the victim stated that after the violent attack came to its conclusion, Angel Hunt then set a fire in the living room and left.

Angel Hunt appeared in court last week for a hearing. On Monday, June 8, Pike County Circuit Judge Eddy Coleman issued an order directing Angel Hunt to undergo an evaluation by the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center to determine if she is competent to stand trial. In the event Angel Huntis is found incompetent, Judge Coleman will ask examiners to then determine if there is a substantial probability that Angel Hunt will become competent in the foreseeable future.

Judge Eddy Coleman also set the next hearing in the case is scheduled for in Pike County Circuit Court on Wednesday, October 7, at 1:30 P.M.

Angel Joy Hunt is currently lodged in the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, where she has been incarcerated since her arrest on December 9, 2025, and her bond is set at $1,000,000 (1 MILLION DOLLARS) full cash only.
